First off, I would like to ask IF ANYONE is able to printer using the HP 8610 Pro printer that is also running Windows 10. I don’t believe it is possible. I am running Windows 10 on a Lenovo Y510P laptop. All updates have been installed and my computer is up to date.
Okay, my issue is a little weird. I bought a brand new $100 HP Officejet 8610 Pro about three months ago when I was still using Windows 8.1. I printed a few times with it without trouble. I then installed to Windows 10 and everything seemed to be fine (it was printing with Windows 10), but all of a sudden one day Windows 10 did an auto update and my printer stopped printing (I believe this is when it first stopped working at least). I have since done everything I can think of, including uninstalling the driver and ALL HP software ((even following the instructions here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Can-t-uninstall-any-hp-software-even-with-scrubber/m-p/2892577#M102503) and re-installing. I have tried running the printer install in compatibility mode. I have also gone to the HP site and installed the “latest Windows 10 driver” for my printer.

The printer definitely works with my phone without problems. I have tried installing via Ethernet, USB, and wireless. Now I cannot install at all, except the Fax for some reason is able to be installed. The computer detects the printer when I try to install, but then it says installation failed and it won’t detect it again for some reason. I have tried installing in compatibility mode.
Here is what does work, at least for a while: I am able to do a system restore back to the date when the printer WAS working. I have done this twice now and both times the printer started working again. The first time I did it, Windows 10 did an auto update and the printer stopped working again. The second time I did it, the printer just stopped working again, despite me turning off auto updates. I will try this one more time tonight to see if it will work, but I’d rather be able to update Windows 10 AND be able to use my printer.
ALSO, my housemate has an HP ENVY printer right next door on the same network and I am able to use that without problems.
Thanks,
Cody
P.S. In other news, every time I try to create a system image, it stops at 97%. I want to try to do a clean reboot or something to fix my printer, but am afraid to unless I have a system image set up.
